BIG TUNES: CODEC 'NO MORE (1998)'

With Miller Genuine Draft

This week's Big Tune takes us in a more underground direction, as we pay homage to an emerging UK duo who are set for big things in the next twelve months.

'No More (1998)', by London-based duo Codec, forms part of a three track EP due out on September 30th on Unit7's much-hyped WRHSmusic label.

Very much a dance floor smash in waiting - the track is based on stirring piano builds, layered with a familiar vocal (from this Fatboy Slim-sampling classic house track). The niceties make soon make way for the kind of ribcage-rattling basslines made popular by the likes of Eats Everything of late.

This house/garage hybrid has been the prevailing sound in London and other key European cities for some time now, and with increasingly accessible tracks like this doing the rounds it is only a matter of time before it moves into the wider dance music world.
