HIGH FIVE: SEPTEMBER'S TOP CLUB NIGHTS

The summer is refusing to sleep, and neither should you in the UK

1
THE SOCIAL, MOTE PARK, MAIDSTONE
SATURDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER
CARL COX, SETH TROXLER, DIXON, NINA KRAVIZ, TINI, GORGON CITY, ÂME, NIC FANCIULLI, SHADOW CHILD, SUBB-AN, SECOND CITY, ROUTE 94, BEN PEARCE, CRAIG RICHARDS, MARK FANCIULLI, SIMON DUNMORE...

Maidstone. Famous for... not a great deal. Aside from a pretty canal and Stone Age remains, this sleepy town is hardly the cultural centre of the universe. However, thanks to the work of a small circle of individuals — in particular, jet-setting local lad Nic Fanciulli — the town has a reputation for throwing killer parties and The Social, a day-long festival in September, is its trophy.

Off the back of label nights at The Source, the only decent local nightclub, the Saved boss decided to upscale last year and the fact they're returning with a bigger one in 2014 suggests things must've gone pretty darn well.

With a line-up as big as this, though, failure isn't a possibility. Marketed as a boutique dance event, the bill reads more like the main stage of a major underground dance fest. Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, Guy Gerber, Dixon, Nina Kraviz, TiNI, Âme alongside Sir Nic — Maidstone's unofficial ambassador for house and techno — and his brother, Mark, DJing in marquees and stages set on a stretch of picturesque woodlands with a 30-acre lake while Gorgon City, Oliver, Second City and Shadow Child play at the VIP area, if you ever needed a reason to visit Maidstone, look no further than The Social.

ABODE, STUDIO 338, LONDON
SUNDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER
DYED SOUNDOROM, AUDIOFLY, WAFF, NO ARTIFICIAL COLOURS

Everybody loves a day party, especially on a Sunday. The opportunity to get eton messy all afternoon and get up for work fresh as a daisy (well, almost) on Monday is always a charm. Add to that the chance to dance outside to a stock of the finest DJ talent there is, and you've got a party that's not just good, it's unmissable.

In a bid to bring a new wave of monthly parties to the capital, Abode has chosen south east London's outdoor terrace and warehouse known as Studio 338 as its abode. The launch will take place on Sunday 7th September and a delectable selection of beats will be supplied by Gallic deep house merchant of Apollonia fame Dyed Soundorom and Flying Circus duo Audiofly, with support from UK house's finest, Hot Creation's wAFF and No Artificial Colours, the Kent-born partnership enjoying the fallout from recent releases on FFRR and Madtech.

TIEF PRESENTS BEATS IN SPACE, CORSICA STUDIOS, LONDON
FRIDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER
TIM SWEENEY, AXEL BOMAN, HUNEE B2B MR.TIES, TORNADO WALLACE

Alright, we might be throwing DJ Mag Sessions presents Solomun at Egg LDN on the same night, in the same city, but it'd be churlish to choose that as one of the best nights of the month (even though it obviously is). Besides, some line-ups are just too good to ignore. Corsica's Tief has done it again. Roping in New York's taste-making nerd Tim Sweeney to showcase his notorious Beats In Space radio show, joined by Studio Barnhus stalwart Axel Boman and a b2b set from Hunee and Mr Ties, means only the classiest house and disco on an equally excellent soundsystem.

INNERSOUL, PLAN B, LONDON
FRIDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER
LENZMAN, MAKOTO, RANDOM MOVEMENT, STAMINA MC

D&b is alive and fucking, especially in the capital. Innersoul is taking it liquid this month with Lenzman. Member of Goldie's Metalheadz crew, the Dutchman has risen to a new level of stardom in recent months especially. A master of the melody, his jazzy riddims and warm bassy grooves have made him one of the most wanted names on the d&b scene, scoring headline slots all over the shop. He'll be joined by Makoto and Random Movement, plus Stamina MC on the mic, in the main room of Plan B, Brixton.

AHORA PRESENTS: CUFF, 02 ACADEMY, SHEFFIELD
SATURDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER
AMINE EDGE & DANCE, SION, CLOUDED JUDGEMENT

It's been a massive two years for Amine Edge & DANCE. Ever since dropping the 'Goodie Goodies' EP on 2DIY4 in 2012, the French duo have defined their own unique G-house style and grown big enough to sell-out gigs at Building Six and Ministry of Sound. As a result, their Cuff label has become one of the world's most sought-out sources not just for booty deep house tunes, but club nights too. Next on the UK schedule is Sheffield. Cuff comes to the 02 Academy as a brigade with attitude this month, with Sion and Clouded Judgement joining the bossmen.

11pm – late | £15 | 02academysheffield.co.uk
