DJ ApprovedTop NightM-NUS PRESENTS CONTAKT SPECIAL - 26/09/2009

STOCKWELL RD, SW9
http://www.o2academybrixton.com

TECHNO raves in the capital don't come much bigger than this. Demigod of all that clicks, bleeps and bangs, Richie Hawtin installs his army of M-Nus missionaries into one of the biggest concert halls in London and fits the place out with the sort of giant LED installations that his space-age Contakt parties are famous for.
Ok, they were also famous for a faintly ludicrous, nay ridiculous, marketing campaign and much talk of the mystical 'cube', but we'll forgive 'em for that… the music did the talking.
Joining Richie Hawtin tonight will be his right-hand men (and woman) Magda, Troy Pierce, Marc Houle, Gaiser and Heartthrob as well as newer names like JPLS, Ambivalent and Barem.
Again, there's talk of a "stage set-up that allows all of the M-nus artists to seamlessly mix together" blurring the lines between DJs and allowing to "become 'as on'". Fuck knows what difference that makes when you're havin' it right off at the front and lost in a chemical abyss, but this is the only M-nus party in London this year and Hawtin's last London date till 2010. Which makes it pretty much unmissable for true techno heads.

DJ ApprovedTop NightMINISTRY OF SOUND 18th BIRTHDAY - 26/09/2009

GAUNT ST, SE1
http://www.ministryofsound.com

SEPTEMBER seems to be the month of birthdays in clubland, but none stretch as far back as Ministry Of Sound's 18th tonight.
London's original house haven and globe dominating superclub, the Elephant & Castle venue invites Sasha to take The Box on a voyage through sound like only he can. He'll be joined by Way Out West's Nick Warren who will be playing prog/melodic techno/deep techno depending on which academy of tunespottery you graduated from.
Offering a cool musical contrast, the bar is filled with the cute melodies and Gallic flair of Fred Falke and Lifelike who are joined by London's one-man 2 Many DJs, We're Not Cool.

DJ ApprovedTop NightGUTTERSLUT - 26/09/2009

HACKNEY RD, E2
http://www.myspace.com/gutterslutuk

THE three Fs are what East London's Gutterslut live by - filth, fun and fashion. A tranny loving, punky-chic gathering of the brash, the bold and the beautiful, Gutterslut's East London sessions have been stimulating the more debauched East London reprobates all year.
Tonight's Gutterslut is the official after-party for the Beautiful Freaks exhibition at Dalston Superstore and welcomes Kevin Graves, aka NYC's Thombstone, to shape a soundtrack of "ghetto electro, facelifting rave and diet techno."
Miss Crystal MC will be adding her vocal tones while residents Per Qx, Elliot J Brown, Nic Fisher and Ralf O drop their own dirt.

DJ ApprovedTop NightMATTER FIRST BIRTHDAY - 19/09/2009

PENINSULA SQ, SE10
http://www.matterlondon.com

WHEN you actually stop and think about how many legendary promotions have passed through matter's doors, it's hard to believe its only been here a year.
In the 12 months since it arrived on the scene to mixed responses of over-excited optimism and it'll-never-work cynisim, matter has smashed the doubters into touch and played host to the likes of dubstep powerhouse Rinse FM, d&b institutions Ram and Hospitality, Sven Väth's Cocoon, John Digweed's Bedrock, mutant techno birthplace Bugged Out, house purveyors like MN2S, Need2Soul and Faith, and Nic Fanciulli's Saved.
For their first birthday, however, the matter crew are taking it in-house. Only a handful of DJs in this world could have taken on the giant job of headlining, but none would do it with as much passion, energy and enthusiasm as Carl Cox will tonight. Let loose for an extended set, Coxy will be supported by another master of techno in Josh Wink, as well as matter resident Paul Woolford.
Offering an alternative jam in the second room, edit king and groove encyclopaedia Greg Wilson will be joined by Jedi Knight Tom Middleton and Riotous Rockers. So what are you waiting for? Deal with the matter.

DJ ApprovedTop NightBASTARD BATTY BASS ALL NIGHTER - 19/09/2009

SECRET SHOREDITCH LOCATION
http://www.battybass.com

BASHING out badass, batty shaking bass music has been BBB's mission over the last three years - lead by urban warrior and East End underground fiend, Hannah Holland.
The curly haired double H has used her sets at the Star Of Bethnal Green to grab at everything from sleazy bass-driven techno, bumpin' US garage, classic jungle rollers, dutty dubstep rumbles and anything else with a bottom end that, er, goes straight to your bottom end.
As old skool ravers, trannys, rude boys and students alike all flocked, BBB rose into a cult underground phenomenon and announced Hannah as one of the few genuinely exciting DJs to emerge from the East End scene.
It was only a matter of time, then, before BBB stepped out from its cosy monthly home at The Star Of Bethnal Green for some grimy all-night warehouse business.
Joining Holland will be NYC's sibling mixing machine The Martinez Brothers while MC Chickaboo and Mama layer hard-hitting lyrical soul over all the bassline badness.
Miss Bailey will warm things up with afro beat, funk and deep tech grooves.

DJ ApprovedTop NightRUPTURE 3RD BIRTHDAY - 19/09/2009

ELEPHANT RD, SE17
http://www.myspace.com/rupturebeats

ASSEMBLING enough bass pressure to blow up a small country, Rupture will make do with smashing up their regular rave den - Corsica Studios - for tonight's third birthday session.
Undiluted underground sounds are the way Rupture roll with back-to-back clashes between D-Bridge and Loxy, Breakage and Threshold, drumfunk dons Equinox and Dub One and Maxx Vinyl and Nick Rascal, who will be flexing it '92-'93 'ardkor stylee.

DJ ApprovedTop NightCTRL - 19/09/2009

TINWORTH ST, SE11
http://www.myspace.com/ctrllondon

ANY fan of deep and hypnotic techno will know just how shit-hot Freak 'n' Chic's Shonky is, which is probably why this new night has chosen to launch off with him as headliner. They clearly know their techno onions, too, as they've also booked rising Scottish producer, and M-nus artist, Gary Beck.
Ibiza's Zoo Project resident Saytek completes a triumvirate of classy headliners. Residents Dale Howard and Leeks support.

DJ ApprovedTop NightWHY SO SERIOUS? - 18/09/2009

KINGSLAND RD, E2
http://www.myspace.com/whysoseriouslondon

IF a tune makes you smile its got to be doing something right which is probably why the WSS? crew pack their bags with grin-inducing killers and leave the tracky fillers at home.
From obscure '70s disco to vintage UK garage, '80s synth-pop to acid house, old skool 'ardkore to boisterous Britpop, anthems are plundered from across the ages as deliriously rowdy antics take hold of this East End grime box.
Midlands rave legend Mick Wilson and tranny fabulous Popcox support residents Lex, Vin Demon, Dave Irvine, Dee JC and Mark Ashley.

DJ ApprovedTop NightMOBILLE LOVES T BAR - 17/09/2009

DUKES PLACE, EC3A
http://www.tbarlondon.blogspot.com

AND SO do we. But then what's not to love? T Bar is free, a short stumble from DJmag HQ and just happens to have some of Europe's best underground acts playing their hearts out every single week.
Tonight Mobilee boss Anja Schneider is the main reason for calling in sick tomorrow. That and the vat's worth of tequila you'll end up slamming at the bar.

DJ ApprovedTop NightFABRIC - 12/09/2009

CHARTERHOUSE ST, EC1M
http://www.fabriclondon.com

OFFERING a sneaky window into Martyn's exclusive techno-based mix for 'fabric 50' (due out January 2010), the Dutch alt.dubstep pioneer will be making his first Saturday appearance at Fabric.
Promising a 4/4 orientated set awash with deep melody, Martyn's appearance isn't the only reason to get down here. Souvenir are in the main room with Tiefschwarz, Pier Bucci (live), Ruede Hagelstein and Sante (live).
