Premiere: KAVARI ‘Skee (Jennifer Walton Remix)’

Scottish collective Meld invites artists to remix its 2021 releases from KAVARI and Mercy System. Hear Jennifer Walton’s shapeshifting rework of KAVARI’s ‘skee feat. klahrk’ now

Scottish collective and label Meld will end the year with a new remix EP, titled ‘Carnyx’, featuring reworks of its 2021 releases.

Meld invited Newcastle’s Jennifer Walton, Bristol’s Pluralist and Edinburgh’s Bolam to put their own spins on tracks by KAVARI and Mercy System, who both released EPs through the label this year.

Liverpool-born, Aberdeen-based producer KAVARI released the five-track ‘if the benign was to ever be so pure’ EP back in May. An exhilarating fusion of warped electronic sound design and propulsive club energy, the release was a striking introduction to the producer, from the woozy ambient clouds of ‘aya garden ***’ and ‘yearn’ to the broken techno beats and ice cold synths of ‘essence remains’ and ‘glass comb’.

Upon the EP’s initial release, we premiered ‘skee feat. klahrk’, a track we described as sounding like a mirrorball shattering in slow motion: an explosion of breakbeats, accented by sharp bursts of light and glimmering colour. Below, you can now hear Jennifer Walton’s shapeshifting remix of the track.

‘Carnyx’ will be released as a Beatport exclusive on 31st December, and will be available everywhere else from 14th January. Pre-order it here
