BOOMTOWN FESTIVAL CAMPSITE EVACUATED AFTER CAR PARK FIRE

At least 80 cars were caught in the blaze...

BoomTown Fair Festival evacuated the campsite last night after a huge fire in the car park involving over 80 vehicles at the Winchester event. No injuries have been reported from the blaze.

BoomTown is currently ongoing, but the fire left extensive damage to the car park, which has been dubbed “vehicle graveyard”. You can see an image of the aftermath at the bottom of the page.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service contained the fire, whilst an investigation to determine its cause is set to take place over the next few days.

Following the blaze, BoomTown’s organisers issued a statement that read, “No festival performances have been affected by the incident and the weekend events are continuing as planned.”

The 50,000 capacity event started on Thursday (11th August), and is planned to see Leftfield, Derrick Carter, Derrick May, Roni Size, Jackmaster, DJ Deeon, Ivy Lab and many more perform before it ends on Sunday (14th August).

The tweet below from Rushmoor Fire Station shows the fire at the event, whilst the photo underneath demonstrates the extensive damage caused in the incident.
