LISTEN TO A CUT-THROAT FRESH KICKS MIX FROM GREMLINZ

Canadian DJ delivers forward-thinking drum & bass...

Gremlinz is a name known in all the right circles, but undeservedly unknown to the masses. Plugging away in his native Toronto for over a decade, the producer otherwise known as Gabriel Au has been defining the sound of modern jungle through his dedication to moody subs and driven breaks.

A fervent collaborator, Gremlinz has worked with the likes of Loxy, Homemade Weapons and Ink (who he recently teamed up with for the militant 'Dark Age' for Tempo) delivering releases for a plethora of labels, including Renagade Hardware, Cylon, Doc Scott's 31 Recordings, and UVB-76 Music — the label he runs with Bristol trio, Ruffhouse. Gremlinz's joint remix of Mutt's 'Conversations' with fellow-Canadian Rene LaVice also happens one of DJ Mag's favourite d&b reworks!

In recent years, Gremlinz has found his way to Paradox Music — a fitting home, considering the similar junglistic tendancies of its founder, Paradox — and just last week dropped his latest 12" for the imprint, an expertly-arranged two-tracker featuring a collaboration with Jesta. As a DJ, Gremlinz skills have earned him gigs across the globe and acclaim amongst his peers, with Keaton of the Usual Suspects even dubbing him 'The Story Teller'. From his Fresh Kicks mix it's easy to see why Gremlinz has such a strong rep, weaving his way between hazy lows to earth-shattering highs, and all the while keeping a sense that something strange and slightly magical is happening.
