STUDIO 338 CROWDFUNDING MEMORIAL FOR STAFF MEMBER THAT DIED IN FIRE

They aimed to raise £5,000, but have already smashed that target...

Studio 338 has started a page dedicated to raising money for a memorial for the member of staff that died following being airlifted to hospital after falling through the roof of the venue whilst it was ablaze on Monday.

The Studio 338 staffer, identified only as Tomas, was attempting to dampen the fire on the roof of the club when it collapsed, plunging him into the burning building.

The venue’s musical director, Dan Perrin, started the crowdfunding page in order to raise £5,000 to fly Tomas’ body home, hold a memorial service and then donate any remaining money to his family, who he was sending money from his Studio 338 job to. They have already smashed their target.

In a message on the page, Perrin wrote, “As you will all know by now, we lost our beloved Tomas to the fire on Monday. He was the bravest, happiest soul one could hope to meet. He was always ready to help anyone in need and now we hope we can do this last thing for him by giving him a wonderful send off and supporting his family in this awful time.

“All donations will go towards bringing Tomas home to Lithuania, giving him a lovely memorial service and then donating the remaining money to his small family who relied on what he sent home from his job here at Studio 338.

“We have been overwhelmed by the messages of support for Tomas, both whilst he was fighting for his life in hospital and after he sadly passed away. This is great way for you to do something really special for Tomas and his love ones if you can spare anything at all.”
