Paris’ Concrete secures 24-hour licence from authorities

Celebrating with a 28-hour party...

Paris’ riverside club Concrete — which is housed on a barge moored on the banks of the Seine — has secured a 24-hour licence from Parisian authorities.

Currently the club has to close at 7am, which the owners felt put the club at a real disadvantage compared to other venues in countries like Holland and Germany.

To celebrate the club’s extended licence they’re planning a 28-hour party, called Samedimanche, that will start on Saturday night at 10pm and run non-stop until Monday 2am.

According to the club’s main booker, Brice Coudert, the club has spent several years trying to secure a later licence from local authorities.

"It first took us several years to be trusted as a reliable promoter, doing everything by the rules,” explained Coudert to Resident Advisor.

"Then, for the past year, we've used other big European cities like Berlin or Amsterdam as examples to explain that Paris' 7am limit was a real disadvantage.

"This licence proves that our culture is getting accepted and understood in Paris.

"Now we'll be able to let the last artist play longer if he or she wants, or ask another artist to take the turntables back at 7am —or even book a surprise guest especially for the after hours. Everything is possible now."

As well as announcing a later licence, the club has unveiled its programme for March and April with guests including DJ Harvey, Ben UFO, Jane Fitz and Leon Vynehall.
