Fatboy Slim is gearing up to release the 500th single on his Southern Fried Records label, ‘Role Model’, later this week. Have an exclusive first listen to the track below.

The milestone release sees the return of SFR’s legendary label head with his first original piece of music this year. Fatboy Slim’s ‘Role Model’, which features Dan Diamond and Luca Guerrieri, will be available both in digital and physical formats from tomorrow (17th May), along with a limited run of 500 special edition acid-print vinyl.

The single itself is about as catchy as it comes, with the Bromley-born producer weaving punchy synth-pads, electro motifs and a thumping bassline into a quintessential Fatboy Slim floorfiller.

Founded by Norman Cook and Garry Blackburn in 1994 as an outlet to release tracks under Cook’s Mighty Dub Katz alias, Southern Fried Records went on to release hits including Ashley Beedle’s legendary remix of ‘Are You Ready For Love’ by Elton John, as well as Armand Van Helden hits ‘My My My’ and ‘I Want Your Soul’.

The label kicked off a symbolic year in 2024 with an open table panel at this year’s IMS, where Cook reflected on the 30 year anniversary of the imprint. Along with a new logo and new merchandise on the way, SFR is set to host parties at some of the UKs biggest festivals this summer, with more information to be confirmed soon.

Southern Fried Records has also served as a springboard platform for a new wave of electronic artists over the past three decades including Maribou State, Theo Bleak, Eats Everything and Crookers. Championing new talent remains at the heart of Cook’s ethos, with recent SFR signings Meg Ward and Sam Girling joining him on the pre-party bill at Akasha last month, where he played under his Mighty Dub Katz alias.

‘Role Model’ will be available digitally as well as a limited run of 500 acid yellow vinyls from the 17th May 2024 via Southern Fried Records. Pre-save the track here, and have an exclusive first listen below.
