fabric co-founder Keith Reilly has revealed that the official campaign to re-open the Farringdon venue will begin next week. He was speaking alongside DJ Howie B on Gilles Peterson’s new online radio channel, Worldwide FM.

Speaking to presenter Thris Tian, Reilly said, “If we don't stand up for ourselves, we will be persecuted and harassed.”

He went on to call for the clubbing community to pull together in support of fabric, in order to overturn the decision to revoke the venue’s license, stating that the Islington council licensing sub-committee had “slit the throat of creativity”.

The campaign to re-open fabric will have the support of the Night Time Industries Association, who aim to raise up to £500,000 through the Fund For Fabric. Key industry figures have already stated they will be willing to donate towards it, including Alex Proud, who has offered to pledge £10,000.

Earlier today DJ Mag revealed that fabric’s license revocation at the hearing with Islington Council was not passed with a unanimous decision, following a tweet from Asima Shaikh, one of the three councillors to vote.
