10 Years Of Secretsundaze

Double CD marks a decade of groundbreaking parties

Giles Smith and James Priestley are about to mark ten years since they first started throwing Secretsundaze parties, and to celebrate they’re releasing a tasty double CD of cool techno and house. Featuring tracks by Space Dimension Controller, Marcus Intalex & ST Files, Recloose, Maddslinky, Marshall Jefferson, East West Connection and Giles Smith’s own project Two Armadillos, the CD – mixed by the two founding residents – is out on July 15th on their own Secretsundaze label.

Kind of London’s answer to Ibiza’s DC10, Secretsundaze began with a series of word-of-mouth outdoor parties in east London, usually on a Sunday, long before ‘secret location’ became a byword for cool for east London warehouse events. Their rep quickly grew as they became the trendy place to party, and they’ve since thrown events in Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Ibiza, Tokyo and New York.

The brand has now expanded to involving an elite booking agency, the Secret Agency, with 20 hand-picked DJs on the roster, and also the label.

‘10 Years Of Secretsundaze’ sees Priestley program some of his bassier favourites from over the years alongside the more electronic stuff the duo are known for pioneering, while Giles sticks to dubby house and hypnotic techno.
