Two moves, a name change and almost 500 publications under its belt, Kompakt is marking 20 years in the game in 2013.
Aside from re-issued stock and special ediition releases, an 'anniversary bonanza tour' featuring a mobile pop-up record store will take place to celebrate and showcase the rich history of one of Europe's most seminal techno labels. Characterised by its consistent delivery of quirky, experimental machine music crossing elements of pop, microhouse and krautrock, Kompakt has help garner the careers not only of its makers – Michael Mayer, Wolgang Voigt and Jürgen Paape – but the close-knit affiliate company it keeps; the likes of DJ Koze, Gui Botatto, Superpitcher, Justus Köhncke and The Field.
Stopping at various spaces in Geneva, Amsterdam, Paris, London and Berlin, the roadshow will be made up of club nights, live concerts, festival performances and exhibitions throughout the year. Watch this space for full schedule over the coming weeks.
