5 CLASSIC '90S TRANCE ANTHEMS

With Miller Genuine Draft

Trance music is having a hard time right now. The sound has dwindled in popularity in the wake of the EDM explosion, with many of its main characters moving away from the scene and into more commercial spheres.

However there is no doubting the passion of trance fans around the globe and the core of artists who are still representing the sound at the world’s biggest events. For that reason, we would back it to return stronger than ever!

But while we wait for the inevitable resurgence, here are five absolutely classic tracks from trance’s halcyon '90s days.

SYSTEM F ‘OUT OF THE BLUE’
Ferry Corsten’s System F moniker peaked in 1999 with this classic driving trance odyssey.

ENERGY 52 ‘CAFE DEL MAR’
Possibly the most famous trance track of all time, this certified Ibiza anthem has what is probably the most euphoria-inducing breakdown of all time.

PAUL VAN DYK ‘FOR AN ANGEL’
German trancer Paul Van Dyk’s undisputed finest hour came in the shape of ‘For An Angel’, which he dropped first in 1994.

SIGNUM ‘WHAT YA GOT 4 ME’
Sitting right on the cusp between the 90’s hard house and trance scenes ‘What Ya Got 4 Me’ makes it into this list on the strength of its uplifting vocal – still guaranteed to slay any trance floor.

BINARY FINARY ‘1999’
Despite first being released one year earlier, under the name ‘1998’ it was the ‘1999’ version that really made waves, peaking at No. 11 in the UK charts. It can be no suprise that many consider 1999 to have been the ‘the golden year of trance’.
