5 ESSENTIAL NEW CLUBBING EXPERIENCES

With Miller Genuine Draft

Clubbing is a competitive business – especially when dance music is booming worldwide. A whole series of new and exciting clubs and venues have been popping up across the planet over the last 12 months – all determined to challenge the old guard and provide a new experience for the world’s clubbers.

Here are five big players determined to make their mark on Top 100 Clubs 2014.

HAKKASAN, LAS VEGAS (USA)
A recent addition to Las Vegas’s already thriving nightlife scene, Hakkasan is a spectacular three-level venue located at the MGM Grand Hotel Casino. Since opening in April 2013 with headline residents including 2013’s #1 DJ Hardwell and Top 100 DJs Legend Award winner Tiesto, Hakkasan has become the talk of the strip, attracting a mix of high-rollers, celebrities and club kids four nights a week.

KER, BARCELONA, (SPAIN)
Inspired by the “boîtes” of the ’70s and ’80s, KER is Barcelona’s new 1200-capacity club from the creators of Elrow and Monegros Festival. Rising to fill the gap left by the closure of Viladecans at Row 14, the terrace space utilized by Elrow each week, the venue aims to bring high-end dance music to a city already steeped in house and techno heritage.

CONTROL, LEEDS (UK)
The team that bought us the clubbing delights of The Warehouse in Leeds are back with a brand new clubbing concept. Control Leeds opened to much fanfare in September, boasting the world’s first LED geodome (see top image), which covers the club space. Add in a talent roster that has included Solomun, Groove Armada, Martin Garrix, 2manyDJs and Pete Tong, then you can see why 100,000 people have already rushed through the doors in the venue’s opening months.

SKYROOM, RIBERIRAO PRETO CITY (BRAZIL)

The oldest club in this list of ‘new’ venues, Skyroom opened back in November 2012 and have slowly built up a cult following on the Sao Paulo scene. The sleek, high-end venue holds 600 clubbers to create an intimate yet exciting destination for Brazilian electronic music fans.

SANKEYS, NEW YORK (USA)
After what seemed like years of speculation, rumour and hype - Sankeys New York finally opened at the tail end of 2013. The venue, which is located in the heart of Manhattan boasts the world’s first hydraulic LED Grid Matrix system and a brand new Void Incubus soundsystem, ably exploited by DJ talent including Reboot and No Regular Play.

Will any of these new venues be getting your vote? Or do you think we have missed some out? Luckily, you decide who makes it in, so cast your vote here.
