Ableton & Soundcloud join forces

Free gifts and competition for users

With the ever swelling ranks of young DJ and producer wannabes, showcasing your skills to the wider world has never been more important. Online mixes and track demos give a window into your creativity, whilst not only being available to your friends but also to promoters and potential new followers around the world.

To help you do this in the most professional way possible Berlin-based companies Soundcloud and Ableton have joined forces for a special offer. If you're an Ableton Live 8 or Suite 8 user you'll receive a free five month SoundCloud Pro account to host yours creations, uploadable directly from Live. This includes 36 hours of storage and unlimited downloads. In return, if you're one of SoundCloud's 14 million plus users then you'll receive a free license for Ableton Live Lite to help create, produce and perform mixes and music.

Soundcloud and Ableton are also running a Beat the Clock competition from 14th May to 28th May. Electronic new-gazers M83, electro-pop duo Junior Boys and LA beat-maker Nosaj Thing will each put together a Live Pack of samples and sounds for entrants to create an original piece of music. However, the piece must be submitted just 24 hours after downloading the Live Pack. SoundCloud and Live users will then vote for their favourite entry before the most popular 25 are judged by the three artists to decide an overall winner. Participants can win a trip to Berlin, lifetime upgrades to Ableton Suite, five years of a SoundCloud Pro Plus account and other essential prizes for the modern day music maker.
