APP REVIEW: WALDORF NAVE

Out of this world

Waldorf is a name known to many in the industry. Their synthesisers have been heard on countless hit records as well as underground masterpieces. Musically inclined iPad owners have something special to celebrate, thanks to the release of the Nave synthesiser. Featuring over 500 awesome sounds, the Nave’s user interface is uncluttered and user friendly, but also manages to offer tremendous potential for those who like to dive deep into synthesis settings.

The Nave features a rather nifty vocoder that converts text into vocoded vocals, and it is a safe bet that we will be hearing the Nave’s vocoded vox on dancefloors very soon indeed. The Waldorf Nave uses the same wavetable synthesis found on their other legendary synthesisers such as the Microwave, Wave and Blofeld.

The sound quality is nothing short of amazing and features like virtual MIDI, audio copy/paste and Audiobus support raise the bar when it comes to soft-synths on the iPad. The Nave also comes with a classic Waldorf filter, as well as the Uberwave module that fattens sounds with up to eight virtual analogue oscillators.
