ARMIN PICKS HIS 'ONES TO WATCH'

Dutch former Top 100 winner chosen by CNN to be a cultural 'master'

The reach of Armin Van Buuren is enormous now. The five times winner of the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll has just been chosen by CNN International to “shine a light” on two up and coming acts for a TV series that airs next week.

Armin has chosen to big up Heatbeat from Argentina and Andrew Rayel from Moldova, who have both figured prominently in the new Top 100 DJs poll.

In the film, David Guetta and Steve Aoki also talk about what they think makes a great DJ.

The programme shows Heatbeat finishing off their album in Argentina before playing a huge 12,000-capacity show, and Andrew Rayel in his studio before heading off to warmp up fgor Armin at Ushuaia in Ibiza ahead of his show at Tomorrowland.

“I was always a shy person,” Rayel — No.24 in the world — tells CNN in the programme. “I never thought that me, from Moldova... can be right there with the big names, with the big DJs. I was dreaming about that — and it's happening right now.”

CNN have kindly given DJ Mag a trailer in advance of the programme (below). The first airing of the programme is Friday 7th November at 10.30 and 16.30 GMT, and then most days following that. More here
