ASIA’S BEST CLUBS OF 2015

Top 100 Clubs, powered by Miller Genuine Draft

Ten years ago, Asia’s electronic music scene could be pinned to a few select outposts, but these  days new clubs are emerging all the time. Six made the final Top 100 Clubs list, and two of those were positioned inside the top 10 - the future looks bright for clubbers in Asia. These are the highest ranking clubs in the 2015 poll.

OCTAGON

Clubs come, go and regularly change hands in Seoul, but one that isn't going anywhere is Octagon. Opened in 2011 with a long-term vision, this space-age engine room is the closest thing South Korea — or the Far East for that matter — has to Fabric. As a result, its steely walkways, forcible Funktion One soundsystem and gourmet chef have found a place in our Top 10 for a consecutive year on the bounce.

ZOUK SINGAPORE

spread across three rooms, this iconic venue is famed for their passionate crowd, a soundsystem to rival the world’s best and a booking policy that enables the venue to keep the masses happy with EDM stars like Hardwell and Laidback Luke whilst simultaneously educating the heads with artists including Sven Väth, Dubfire and Bonobo in Velvet — the underground room that has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years.

ZOUK KL

The Malaysian Zouk draws strong parallels with its successful Singaporean sister. State-of-the-art sound, check, mind-bending light-shows, check, globe’s best DJs, check! The Malaysian Zouk is a near-replicated version of the flagship, with the exception of the nightclub’s unique door policy. Tourists are offered free entry to Zouk in Malaysia, on the condition that they show a copy of their passport at the door, an added incentive for house and techno fans visiting the capital.

WOMB

In the last few years, Tokyo's underground house and techno lacuna has adapted to the changing landscape. As EDM has spiralled and its popularity in Japan has increased, Womb's moved with the times, and now peppers its club events with a sugary dose of big room beats. As if to prove their pulling power in this domain, last year Skrillex appeared at the iconic club, but the underground contingent remained strong, everyone from Ben Klock and Loco Dice to Todd Terje and Nina Kraviz rocking its enveloping rave cavern.
