Avicii’s family releases details of the late EDM star’s funeral

Avicii’s family has released details for his funeral following the death of the EDM star last month.

In an announcement made today (Tuesday, 22nd May), the family of the late producer, born Tim Bergling, said Avicii’s funeral will be a private affair.

“There have been many inquiries regarding the funeral arrangements for Tim Bergling, known by music fans as Avicii,” the family said in a statement to Billboard. “The Bergling family has now confirmed that the funeral will be private, in the presence of the people who were closest to Tim. They kindly ask media to respect this. There is no additional information forthcoming.”

The news of the funeral comes just a few days after the one-month mark of Avicii’s death following an apparent suicide. After his death, his family released a statement that called the famed producer “an over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.”

“When he stopped touring,” the statement continued, “he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”

In recent news, it was revealed that an album of previously unreleased music by Avicii will be released this year. This past weekend, Tiësto paid tribute to Avicii during his set at EDC Las Vegas with a 12-minute mega-mix of the Swedish DJ’s biggest hits.
