Beatport's New Hype Charts are Now Live

Beatport's new curated Hype Charts are now live on the website. Announced at IMS Ibiza 2018, the charts are aimed at supporting independent and upcoming labels and artists with Beatport allocating one banner and two new release tiles to the new charts, the top 10 of which will be visible on the Beatport homepage.

With 96% of Beatport's sales coming from independents, they claim "the Hype Charts are a valuable tool for Beatport to promote new talent and encourage the DJ community to dig deeper." The news was announced at IMS, where Beatport also outlined the roadmap to stream their entire catalogue into major DJ software "by 2019", with hardware likely to follow. They've also previewed some new subscription models, the details of which are yet to be announced.

It's all change at Beatport, where they also announced continued growth year-on-year. How the Hype Charts influence the wider top 100 is yet to be seen, but more support for independents can only be a good thing.
