Berlin’s Tegel airport could be turned into a club complex after it closes later this year.
Members of Berlin’s Clubcommission — the network introduced in 2000 that acts as a mouthpiece to protect the interests of Berlin’s club scene – will visit Tegel airport after it closes, according to reports from Berlin-based newspaper Der Tagesspiegel.
Berlin residents voted to keep the airport open in a referendum last year, but if the closure does go ahead then the Clubcommission will reportedly look at options available from Tegel’s network of hangars and sound-proof jet engine testing hall.
Berlin's city government recently pledged €1million to fund soundproofing in the city's various clubs and venues.
The techno-scored film about Berlin's nightlife, 'Symphony of Now', also unveiled its trailer earlier this year (January).
