Brit homeboys Nic Fanciulli and Andy Chatterley have been nominated for one of the most prestigious prizes in world music.

Their Buick Project dance outfit has been named as a contender for best remix of the year at the world famous Grammy Awards, to be held on Sunday 11th February in Los Angeles.

If they win, they will receive an award that has in the past also been given to rock megastars U2, Stevie Wonder, Kylie Minogue and De La Soul, as well as dance giants the Chemical Brothers and Basement Jaxx.

The boys' Grammy nomination is a huge coup for the lads, who have only ever really enjoyed underground recognition. Nic told DJmag he was well chuffed.

He said: "We are both really really happy with the nomination, it's a great honour to be up for the award."

It is Buick Project's remix of Tiefschwarz' 'Damage' that is up for a Grammy, but first they must see off stiff competition from Jacques Lu Cont for his remix of Coldplay's 'Talk' and The Freemasons for their rework of Beyoncé's 'Déjà vu'.

Nic Fanciulli, who first learnt his DJ skills as resident for ClubClass in Maidstone, was modest about his and Andy's achievement.

"We would really like to acknowledge Tracey Thorn and Tiefschwarz for giving us the tools to be able to produce the remix in the first place," he said.

Buick Project will appear live at ClubClass at Ministry of Sound in London on Saturday 20th January in what will be their first gig of 2007.
