BREAKSPOLL RESULTS

Eastern Europeans rewarded at 12th international Breakspoll event

The 12th international Breakspoll awards ceremony was dominated by eastern Europeans at a rocking event on Saturday night in London. Lady Waks from Russia walked off with three awards (Best Track, Best Producer and Best Radio Show), while Hungarian pairing Beatman & Ludmilla from Hungary picked up a couple of gongs.

A packed house at Cable in London Bridge also saw the Dub Pistols win Best Live Act, A-Skillz again win the coveted Best DJ gong, and Krafty Kuts – who has won Best DJ in most of the previous years – accept the Best Album award. The Outstanding Contribution award was made to Push Promotion PR and one half of Botchit & Scarper act SOTO, Sonia Akow – Sonia's partner Toby picked up the award, and spoke movingly about Sonia's illness and hopes for a stem cell donor.

Comedy dubstepper High Rankin presented the awards, and the event was also notable for seeing a return to Breakspoll for acts such as Stanton Warriors, Evil Nine and Terry Hooligan — who've all been exploring other scenes in recent years. Walking through the three jam-packed rooms, it also felt a few times that various DJ were dropping the 'Harlem Shake' – although this was just interludes in the breakbeat music that has cross-pollinated with dubstep, electro, trap and drum & bass in recent times.
