Classic rave artwork: 18 images from the archives

Incredible artwork from the vibrant archives of raving

From cardboard flyers on bedroom walls, to posters on city centre fences, artwork has long been a key part of the global electronic music scene. Now an online archive of classic rave posters and flyers has emerged, ensuring some of this creative output will be preserved for all time.

Hosted on Are.na, and compiled by a man named Martin Murphy, the extensive collection of imagery features some iconic parties from the 1990s, such as Dreamscape, Dance Planet, Pleasuredome and Fusion.

This isn't the first time such a trip down memory lane has made our pages in recent times— take a look at the flyers featured in this book and this collection of classic rave tapes for examples. Nevertheless, this new selection is certainly worth further attention, focussing on jungle, hardcore and techno scenes of the day, offering an insight into the attitude and approach of promoters at the time with escapism and a strong psychedelic slant evident throughout much of the output.

Take a look at some choice selections from the archive below, and those looking for more should check the full range
