Damon Albarn confirms there’s a new Gorillaz’s LP in the works

But it won't be coming out for a while...

The ever prolific Damon Albarn has revealed that there is a new Gorillaz in the works.

After releasing the second Gorillaz album to come out in the the space year, 'The Now Now', in June, the Blur icon has now revealed there is yet another LP in the pipeline.

Appearing on the Radio FM4 podcast, Albarn said: "I have another one as well, but I know I’m not gonna be allowed to even think about recording or putting it out this year.”

He went on to describe his intense work schedule for the rest of the year, saying: “In October, after I play in America, I’ll be starting The Good, The Bad & The Queen again...It’s there. If I get the time, or if anyone wants it, it’s there.”

The Good, The Bad & The Queen is Albarn's supergroup with The Clash’s Paul Simonon, the Verve’s Simon Tong, and legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. They last released an album in 2007, which took two years to produce and landed at No. 2 in the UK album charts.

If Albarn's comments are to be believed then we could be on the receiving end of two new albums from the artist in 2019.
