Dance Music Legend Dies

Tragic passing of Peter Harris

Peter Harris – the man behind seminal rave/house music label Kickin' Music - has tragically died after a long battle with cancer. He passed away on Sunday 6th January.

His label, launched in 1988, was one of the first to release electronic dance music from the UK, introducing acts like Shut Up and Dance and The Scientist among many others.

Harris pioneered dance music in its many forms, forming an umbrella company which incorporated major dance labels like Kickin' Records, Slip 'n' Slide, Hardleaders, Stoned Asia and Slip 'n' Slide Blue, and helped to launch the careers of major DJs Grant Nelson, DJ Hype, Phil Asher, Matthew 'Bushwacka' B, Dominic B (Stanton Warriors) and Rennie Pilgrem.

Harris was much loved by his many friends both within the music industry and without, and will be sadly missed.
