DANNY BOYLE TO START FILMING TRAINSPOTTING SEQUEL

Original cast reunite for adaption of Irvine Welsh’s Porno.

Filming is due to begin soon on the sequel to Trainspotting, director Danny Boyle has confirmed.

First announced in 2013, the new film will reunite original cast members Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle.

“All the four main actors want to come back and do it,” Boyle, who directed the original film, told Deadline. “Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together, which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series.”

The film will be based on Irvine Welsh’s Porno, published in 2002. Set 10 years after the original Trainspotting novel, Welsh's sequel sees the characters cross paths again in Edinburgh. Simon “Sick Boy” Williamson, returns home after a failed business venture in London, and joins up with Renton for one final money-making scheme: producing and directing a porno movie. Danny “Spud” Murphy, meanwhile, has been attending rehab whilst Begbie, played by Carlyle, remains unhinged.

The original movie, released in 1996, became the year’s highest-grossing British film. It was later voted the best Scottish film of all time in a public poll.
