David Morales, superstar house DJ and owner of one of the world's best clubs – Stereo in Montreal – will open a brand new after-hours club in Toronto at the end of April.
Sonic Nightclub opens its doors on Saturday April 29 2006, and like the award-winning venue Stereo, features a custom-built soundsystem designed solely for dance music.
Previously a theatre, Sonic is located in downtown Toronto at 270 Spadina Avenue, and is the pet project of Morales and local electronic music hero Nevio Persia.
Sonic Nightclub has been eloquently decorated in a Moroccan style that includes a hardwood dancefloor, plush banquet seating areas, and a cutting-edge Dymax lighting system.
David Morales & Nevio Persia
The opening night will feature resident DJs David Morales and Nevio Persia play alongside house legend Frankie Knuckles.
Similarly, Sonic's music policy will be
firmly based on house, with the cream of
the genre's DJs playing regularly.
Chus & Ceballos, Billy Carroll, and local favourites Sean Miller and Cajjmere will play frequently at the club, which will also feature some of Toronto's premier performance artists.
