Deadmau5 reveals he nearly died in a plane crash 10 years ago

154 passengers lost their lives on the plane, which the DJ missed by mere minutes...

Deadmau5 has revealed that he very narrowly missed boarding a plane that would tragically crash shortly after take-off back in 2008.

In a new interview with the H3 Podcast, the mau5trop boss – real name Joel Zimmerman – told a story about how 10 years ago he and his tour manager missed boarding their connecting flight from Madrid by mere minutes. The flight in question was the ill-fated Spanair JK5022 which, shortly after take-off from the runway at Madrid Barajas International Airport, crashed, killing 154 of its 172 passengers.

In the interview, Deadmau5 remembers witnessing the tragedy from the window of the airport, saying, “There were maybe 800 to 1000 people in the airport.... No one made a fucking sound. It was the creepiest shit.”

As well as sharing the story of his close encounter with that tragedy, Deadmau5 also discusses a mysterious encounter with an actual dead mouse and the time he went gambling with Dillon Francis. You can watch the full interview here, or check out the unnerving segment where he describes the near death experience below...

Last week, after months of teasers, snippets and previews, Deadmau5 released his highly anticipated orchestral album ‘where’s the drop’. He is set to play at Spring Awakening in June and and EDC in May.
