DJ MAG WEEKLY PODCAST: APPLEBOTTOM

Online star drops mix ahead of Ceremony

Sharing his name with jeans made for hip-hop hunees, Applebottom knows how to make your booty shake. But there'll be no twerkin'!

Aside from a couple of cuts on Night Tracks and MadTech, his silken deep house/garage moves have been made almost entirely online, rather than on bricks 'n mortar labels.

Giving away free downloads like 'Sex Drugs Cash', 'Let You' via Eton Messy and 'T.M.P' through us put this Bristolian on the map in a big way, scoring hundreds of thousands of listens and, in the case of 'Let You', over two million views on YouTube. As a result his name began appearing on line-ups all over the shop throughout 2013 and currently his name sits stronger than ever.

One of his line-ups that really stands out is Ceremony in Finsbury Park on Saturday 13th September. Presented by Found and featuring the likes of Inner City (live), Louis Vega, Nick Curly and Chez Damier on stages run by 51st State, Urban Nerds, Magna Carter and Egg LDN, the event looks destined to be a delightful cherry on top of a very excellent summer of clubbing in London. Get tickets.

Applebottom mixed this week's DJ Mag podcast. Throwing everything in the pot, it combines dark tech-y sounds with Y3K electro and fidgeting future bass, featuring tunes from Samu.I and Hideo Kobayshi alongside his own.
