The DMC UK DJ Final is the ultimate British DJ battle with top DJs vying for a chance to represent the UK at the World DJ Championships in October.
Whoever takes the crown at the World DJ Championships will be amongst the likes of Scratch Perverts, A-Trak (Kanye West’s DJ), Q Bert, C raze and Mixmaster Mike (of Beastie Boys fame), an honour that merits ultimate bragging rights, not to mention a handful of goodies from Rane, Serato, Novation and Sennheiser.
And for the first time ever, after 27 years of strict tradition, competitors will be allowed to use computer based DJ programs, making this competition a truly special and ground breaking event. The change in regulation is clearly a sign of the times and technologies like Serato may prove to change the face of DJing forever.
While the change may prove to bring about a more dramatic and entertaining aspect, DJs will still be required to incorporate some element of original scratching and cutting techniques, all the while performing live in front of an audience made up of veteran DMC fans and music-thirsty newcomers.
To commemorate the historical event DJMag.com will be running a very special competition of our own.
One lucky winner will receive a brand new Novation Dicer DJ Kit, free tickets to the DMC UK DJ Final along with a DMC goody bag complete with a DMC 1210 Apparel T Shirt, a DMC Wallet, DMC CDs, DVDs, and stickers.
In order to win, you must be the first to answer the following question.
How old was A-Trak when he won the DMC World Championships in 1997?
