Brownswood's latest leftfield pop project Anushka released their debut album 'Broken Circuit' to wide acclaim this summer and in lieu of the single — 'Atom Bombs' (13th October) — the duo will embark on a European tour this month (get tickets).
Described in our July issue as an album that “playfully subverts the pop formula with modern electronics”, 'Broken Circuits' (buy it here) intelligently marries the breathy vocals of Victoria Port with sub-bass-laded garage/house laid down, with pop song-writing sensibility, by Max Wheeler.
Following a summer that's seen them perform at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival and Soundwave Festival in Croatia, the Brighton-based partnership will bring their eagerly awaited live show to 11 venues across Europe between 27th September and 11th November (full listings below).
With tickets now on sale, we're giving a VIP dub version of the single away for absolutely nuthin'. Re-sampling, cutting up and drawing out the vocals of the original over supple chords, a delicate 4/4 and viscous synth textures, it sounds as good in headphones as it will on the dancefloor.
