Duque it out!

Win a day in the studio with techno kingpin Abe Duque

New York City's techno overlord Abe Duque rules the electronic underground with an iron fist. A true dance music wizard with releases on a plethora of the world's most respected labels, including Tresor, Gigolo, Mille Plateaux and Disko-B, spanning acid-singed nocturnal house to strobe-lit funky techno, Duque's superior abilities in the studio have given him one of the most formidable reputations in the business.

Counting a ton of stone-cold classic 12"s and albums to his name, Duque's excellent new longplayer 'Don't Be So Mean' has just dropped on Process Recordings - his most full-blooded, diverse offering yet, spanning raw strobe-lit afterhours grooves to melancholic house, via samples of classical composer Debussy over rolling Chicago funk. And to celebrate, he's teamed up with DJmag for a rather special competition.

Abe is offering one lucky DJmag reader the chance to spend a day with him in a London studio to learn some of his renowned music production techniques and tricks of the trade. From seasoned producers with a track that just needs a few finishing touches to give it extra oomph, to new music makers keen to pick up some hints to give their tracks a little extra pizzazz, Duque is offering to help budding creators step up their game.

For your chance to win this once in a lifetime chance, head over to abeduque.net and register for Abe's mailing list. You will automatically be entered into the competition and you'll receive loads of extras including DJ mixes, complete tracks and remix parts!

As to how the day will pan out, the producer is happy to help people realise their vision, from the most professional to the greenest of the green.
"We'll take the sessions as they come," Duque believes. "Perhaps the winner might want to know how to make their sounds better, perhaps they'll have their own tracks and we'll see what we can do to tighten them up, any other issues they might have - we'll just see how it goes really, take it as it comes."

This is an opportunity for YOU to give your tracks a worldclass production sheen and take your music to the next level, so what are you waiting for?!

Entrants must make their own way to the London studio on a date TBC - those unable to travel will be disqualified from winning. Those who want Abe to help them with their own productions will be responsible for bringing all samples and files to the session. Competition closes 30th June.
