Ecstasy in Edinburgh

Irvine Welsh play announced

Ecstasy, Irvine Welsh's collection of short stories which looks at the love lives of disco biscuit guzzling ravers in '90s Edinburgh, has been adapted into a play.

Showing as part of the Fringe events at this year's Edinburgh Festival, the play, adapted from the book by Kevin Wyatt and produced and directed for Easy Tiger Productions by Maddy Lewis, is a by turns witty, dark and poignant look at how drug use effects relationships, with a realistic portrayal of club culture as its backdrop.

Irvine Welsh, author of Trainspotting, has been praised and courted controversy for his unflinching depictions of the lives of what The Face magazine once called the 'chemical generation'.

Maddy Lewis said,
"Ecstasy is Irvine Welsh's twist on the classic love story and I am thrilled to stage it in Edinburgh, the city which it is set in." Ecstasy shows at Venue 88, BabyBelly 1st -31st July to 12th August @ 1:05pm. Ticketprices range from £7.50 to £9.50.
