EDM 8: RELEASES THAT RULED THIS WEEK

Friday dance music report October 31, 2014

Kick the weekend off with American DJ, producer and vocalist, Lea Luna’s curation of the top eight releases in dance music this week.

1. Dirty South- "Unbreakable" (Autograf remix)

Laid back and emotional, Autograf takes the tones of Dirty South to a deeper soundspace, carried by the soothing voice of Sam Martin filtering in and out on this soul-pleasing remix of "Unbreakable."

2. The Specials- "Ghost Town" (Flinch & J. Rabbit Remix)

Just in time for Halloween, The Specials' ska classic "Ghost Town" has been rehashed into a set of two banging remixes, led by this spooky, bass-heavy trap remix courtesy of Flinch and J Rabbit. Check out the SPL remix that follows in the pack for extra bass in your face. Enjoy free downloads of both versions for a happy Halloween.

3. Hook N Sling- "Momentum"

This track is aptly named "Momentum," with a bunch of heavy sounds pulling the energy full-force from beginning to end. This monster track is a straight hit for electro lovers, and totally festival appropriate. Crank it up and see why the crowd went crazy when Sander van Doorn played it at Creamfields.

4. Dillon Francis- “When We Were Young” feat. Chain Gang of 1974 (Grandtheft Remix)

Grandtheft's 808 bass shakes the bassbins while Chain Gang of 1974's addictive vocal hook grips you by the heart on "When We Were Young," it's no wonder party genius Dillon Francis chose these artists to collaborate with him.

5. North Base- "The End"

It wouldn't be a proper Halloween weekend without some good, dark drum and bass. Manchester's all-star d&b group North Base has their finger on the pulse, with support from Skrillex, Skream & Benga, Subfocus, Andy C, and more. Check out their menacing new track "The End" fresh out on Beatport this week.

6. Moon Boots- "There's No Love"

Here's a nice uplifting house track to melt the cold weather mood. Warm, hypnotizing synths and a groovy vocal loop fit perfectly over this deep house groove to put a nice wide smile on your face and a bounce in your step.

7. Bassnectar- "Loco Ono" (Jayceeoh Remix)

"Loco Ono" has a vocal that sounds like Yoko, and bass music tastemaker Bassnectar has chosen maestro Jayceeoh for his remix tactics on this sick trap mix. Brace yourself.

8. Borgeous- “Invincible” (Stone Bridge Extended remix)

Swedish producer Stone Bridge nails it on this classy remix of Borgeous' dance anthem "Invincible" which features a knockout vocal by an unlisted singer that is so catchy and powerful you'll have to put it on replay a few times to hear enough of her.
