Some of breakbeat and drum & bass' biggest names will play a special gig in London at the end of June to help raise money for east Africa.

All profits from 'Emergency Breaks' at The Telegraph in Brixton on Saturday 24th June will go to Oxfam's Kenya Famine Appeal, to help some of the 11 million people that are facing a food shortage.

Event Promoter, Katie Scott said she wanted to use the event to raise awareness of the crisis.

"We've all been confronted by distressing images of sickness and starvation on our TV screens, and it's all too easy to feel bad and then switch off.

"We wanted to engage people's awareness in a way that spoke loudly to them – what better way than to throw a storming, beat-fuelled party?"

London Elektricity, Friendly, Calibre, Utah Jazz, BLIM, Future Funk Squad, Clive Morley and Ladykilla, Digital, plus others will play at the event, which runs till 6am.

Ten piece drum & bass band Keiretsu will also perform at 'Emergency Breaks', held in association with Oxfam.

Oxfam's Hayley Baker said: "This appeal isn't designed to be just a sticking plaster.

"We want to help people across the region to recover and be in a better position when the next crisis hits."
