Excitement for the Intel DJ Comp is hotting up

Get your entries in now for the Intel Power Up DJ competition in association with DJ Mag

Power up! Every new DJ needs a break sometimes, and for some established jocks such as James Zabiela, Sonny Wharton and Yousef the way they achieved this was by entering a DJ competition. A DJ comp can act as a springboard, as the ladder to DJ success is accessed by moving up one rung after another...

So lookee here, budding DJs. Entries have been coming in thick and fast for the Intel UK DJ competition in association with DJ Mag. There are now just three weeks to get your entries in via Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/djmagazine/app_171350439587), with some regional heats and then a chance to play alongside Benji B (known for BBC Radio 1) at a fabled 'secret London location' event in October. Plus there are a load of goodies to win. What are you waiting for?

Mixes — which can be in any genre whatsoever — only need to be 20 minutes long, and will be put out to public vote for a short while and then whittled down by judges Benji B, DJ Mag Tech Editor Mick Wilson, and Intel UK's PR Manager Perveen Akhtar. There will then be regional heats for the remaining 18 DJs in Birmingham, Manchester and London at the beginning of October before the final six play the grand finale in London.

Intel tell us that of the three areas, Birmingham has had the least entries so far, so if you're from the Midlands, get spinning! The deadline for mixes is September 4th at 6pm, and is only open to UK residents.

All 18 finalists will appear in DJ Mag as part of an editorial feature, win a support set for one of the city's best loved DJs, and have their DJ set promoted on Spotify. Travel expenses of up to £100 per regional finalist will be covered – when uploading a mix, all entrants must select which city they live closest to.

All six finalists will then receive a new Intel Ultrabook (value £800), be featured in the PowerUp video, and receive tickets for ten mates each to attend the final.

After the grand final on October 18th in London's east end, the winner of the whole competition will then be able to 'power up' their DJ career no end. Not only will they be filmed for Intel's PowerUp video but they will also receive a B@TV podcast stream via DJ Mag and tickets to the power up event. This is one PowerUp that budding bedroom DJs can't do without!
