Decky Hedrock left the Japanese Popstars last year and has now started a new solo project — Sirkus Sirkuz. And he's given DJ Mag an exclusive one-hour live set of his productions to stream right here.
A mixture of his own original productions — some of which have yet to see the light of day — plus remixes and collaborations with producers like Wax Hands and Shadow Dancer, the house and techno blend gives you a great idea as to what a Sirkus Sirkuz set is all about. The one-hour set was made using laptop, external keyboards, Midi FX etc. “The live sets have been going EXTREMELY well,” he tells DJ Mag. Stream it below:
“The name Sirkus Sirkuz is the combination of Norwegian and Latvian spelling for the famous ‘Circus Circus’ hotel in Las Vegas,” Decky says. “I liked the idea of naming myself after the hotel there but wanted it to look different, in some weird way.
“So I thought of the different phonetical ways to spell 'circus', and I also liked the notion of how these new spellings translated into different languages. In fact, looking back I don’t think I could actually spell the name correctly myself for about two weeks after coming up with it!”
In the past year, Sirkus Sirkuz has released on GND Records, 9G Records, CRUX Records, Hottwerks and Rocstar Recordings, and supporters of his music include Marco Carola, Utah Saints, Mason, Mumbai Science, MSTRKRFT, Autokratz, Anderson Noise and Fake Blood.
