Exit Festival 2006

Exit festival in Serbia is a mammoth celebration of dance and rock music. This year will feature 600 performances over the three days.

A stunning array of international DJ talent will perform at this year's Exit festival in Serbia, as well as quite a few rock and pop acts.

Nick Warren, James Zabiela, Dave Clarke, Layo & Bushwacka!, Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso will all play at the mammoth event, as will Kelis, Billy Idol, Morrisey, Franz Ferdinand, and the Pet Shop Boys.

Exit festival takes place in the historic and gigantic Petrovaradin Fortress, overlooking the city of Novi Sad, from 6th – 9th July 2006.

An impressive 18 music arenas will be operating during the event, including the Main Stage and Dance Stage – altogether 600 performances will take place in an area that covers about three kilometres.

Originally, Exit festival was launched as a campaign against the Milosovic regime in Serbia in the year 2000, and began with a 50/50 split between bands and electronic music, a balance it still maintains today.

Unbelievably, the first Exit festival lasted for 100 days.

Like Bestival and the Big Chill in the UK, Exit refuses to accept sponsorship from cigarette or alcohol companies.

Tickets are priced at €66.75 for the four day event, and apparently already 2000 tickets have already been snapped up by UK festival goers (after all, Glastonbury isn't happening this year, and Serbia is very cheap once you get there).

One option you might want to consider is Leger Holidays, who are offering an Exit ticket and accommodation for £139 per person – there are also coach and air packages available.
