Ferry Corsten and Paul Oakenfold share new collaboration, ‘A Slice of Heaven’

Corsten wants to unify the global trance community...

Ferry Corsten and Paul Oakenfold have shared their first ever collaboration, ‘A Slice of Heaven’.

It is the first track to be released as part of Corsten’s UNITY series, through which he will be sharing numerous collaborations over the course 2018. The releases will range from collabs with long-established peers and pioneers as well as emerging artists in the trance community.

Speaking recently to Billboard, Corsten discussed how divisions in the scene were preventing trance from progressing in the same way as other genres. UNITY, then, intends to change that.

"I feel that the genre is chopping itself up into smaller pieces,” he said. “And therefore it is not really creating that massive movement that other genres have right now."

UNITY also a charitable operation, with all proceeds from streams tracks in the project going toward VH1’s Save The Music foundation which provides brand-new musical instruments, equipment and educational assets to public elementary and middle schools in the U.S.

‘A Slice of Heaven’ carries many of the classic trance tropes you’d expect from two producers who’ve been in the industry as long as these two.

Speaking of the collaboration, Oakenfold said in an official statement, “Myself and Ferry have long spoken about getting together to work on music, and with the benefits of providing children with more opportunities to be educated through music, it was a no-brainer to finally make it happen.”

Other collaborations as part of UNITY include one with Alpha 9.

In May last year, Ferry Corsten appeared on the cover of DJ Mag’s U.S. edition. Read our ten moments that defined Corsten here.
