New producer alert. We always have our ear to the ground listening for new beat-makers, and up next is Northamptonshire-bred producer, One Over. The 20-year-old former dubstepper has already made his mark in the house and bass scene, and he’s only been going for six months: he topped the Juno Bass Chart at No. 1 in 2013 with 'Comin To You' — a hip-hop-sampled, bass-driven collaboration with his buddy, Scullios – and secured himself a spot on the forthcoming 'Forward' EP out on Sony’s dance music imprint, Space + Time Records, later this year.
"I only got into house music in the summer of 2013," One Over tells DJ Mag. "My opinion of the genre is that it's a lot more mature than dubstep. And although I had a good run with my dubstep tunes – with it getting airplay on BBC Radio 1 by Skream, Benga, MistaJam, etc – there’s just something about house music that grabs me and takes me to a completely different realm. I love making it; the enjoyment I get from it is next level."
One Over’s creations have been likened to the works of 'Careless' hit-makers, Dusky. It’s a comparison any budding house star would be proud of, and the same goes for him: "Being compared to Dusky is a big deal! I’m a big fan of their work, but I hope people will be able to listen to my music and get to know my vibe, because I personally feel it’s different. I hope to get to a point in my career, like where Dusky are now, where I’m completely happy with what I’ve achieved and can make a living off something that I love doing. My future aim is to DJ around the world, meet new people, and just create good times to remember forever."
