Give peace a dance!

Dance for peace this weekend @ Earthdance and the Wave Form Festival!

This Saturday 15 September sees the return of the biggest synchronised dance event in history - Earthdance. Last year the global festival united people in over 340 locations in 57 countries and this year promises to be even bigger. With UK supporters having a choice this year of celebrating at either London's The Scala or at the Wave Form Festival in Exmouth, Devon there really is no excuse not to take part.

Founded in 1996 by Return to the Source (London's first monthly trance night) promoter and artist/musician Chris Deckker, Earthdance aims to unite as many people around the world as possible through music and dance. At midnight the Prayer for Peace is played simultaneously throughout the world with as many venues as possible being linked up, illustrating the power of technology, dance and music. As well as promoting peace, each local promoter donates at least 50 per cent of their profits to charity, with over $1,000,000 being raised to date. The spirit of "Think Global, Act Local" is definitely encouraged.

With Chris Deckker moving to San Francisco just two years after starting Earth Dance, Earthdance in the UK was entrusted into the safe hands of Pendragon promoter and DJ Mark Sinclair. He's put together one hell of a party for this year's event at The Scala in Kings Cross, with Dreadzone and The Morrighan playing live in the main room, followed by Mark himself DJing then Antiworld's Sutekh finishing things off on a hard and fast high. It's not just all about the main room however, with as many types of dance music being represented as possible. Techno tribe Stay Up Forever host a room, while some of the best psy trance around is brought to you by Liquid Connective and Little Green Planet. Check out Earthdance London for more info.

Meanwhile by the time Earthdance London kicks off, the Wave Form festival at Devon's Powderham castle will be in full swing. Billed as the southwest's first home grown sustainable dance music festival, Wave Form is produced by the same crew as the awesome Sunrise Celebration. Promoting revolutionary green ethics, the festival is 100% powered by renewable energy. With more live acts and DJs than you can shake a dreadlock at over five stages headliners include Eat Static, Sinewave, System 7, Annachy (Israel), Banco de Gaia, The Peaking Goddess Collective, Zetan Spore, Gaudi, Subsource and many more as well as a green village, workshops, cinemas, saunas, a cabaret, plus it's family friendly.

Only 3500 tickets are on sale and last time we checked there were less than 500 left. However we've had confirmation from the crew that tickets are still available on the gate for just £75 which includes 3 nights of camping. Check out Wave Form or call 08450096347 (low-call rates) for more info and make the most of what promises to be the last big festie of the summer!
