Just when you felt utterly spoilt to have Orbital, Simian Mobile Disco and Tricky as the first wave of headliners at this year’s Glade festival, Creative Director Nick Ladd goes and pulls a whole shit load of other treats out the bag. Joining the three previously announced acts at Matterley Bowl from Thursday 15th – Sunday 18th July will be techno legend Jeff Mills, DFA’s Holy Ghost!, Seth Troxler, Fuck Buttons, Green Velvet, Plastician, Magnetic Man, Autechre, Boy Better Know and a lot more, including the biggest breaks lineup at the festival to date.
Legendary Detroit techno DJ Jeff Mills aka “The Wizard”, famed for his beat juggling and scratching in the 1980s, comes back to earth for Glade after metaphorically travelling the universe for his recent conceptual ‘Sleeper Project’. Joining Mills will be unconventional house hero Green Velvet who makes his Glade debut. Most famous for his hits “Flash”, “Answering Machine” and “La La Land”, Green Velvet’s labels Cajual and Relief were arguably the most prominent and prolific outposts for new wave Chicago beats throughout the 1990s.
On top of the incredible lineup which you can check out in full here, Glade have introduced Boutique Camping with a choice of yurts and tipis for some extra luxury, as well as Theme Camps - a competition to win backstage passes and a grant of £1000 to create the most original festival camp idea. Also, don’t miss out on the Glade podcast which is available on trackitdown.net and if you parachute your way into the festival dressed as Elvis with a sound system strapped to your back and hit the ground dancing, you get in completely free. Easy.
Now entering its seventh year, Glade has been described as the Glastonbury for electronic music lovers and continues to evolve as a unique hybrid between a rave and an English garden party. If you like pretty festivals and you love dance music, then get involved.
Tickets are on sale for £135 and a handful of discounted student tickets are available at £110 for a limited time. Glade is also running a £50 deposit scheme.
