Hannah Wants shares her insider tips to the White Isle
UK selector Hannah Wants knows the White Isle like the back of her hand. She’s been coming to the island for 14 years, first putting down roots in San Antonio’s West End before moving to the island’s North for her fix of healthy foods and a more laidback lifestyle. She’s held down a residency at Amnesia for the last four years, lighting up the club’s Main Room each week as part of British party-starting brand, Together. Here, she tells DJ Mag Ibiza her secrets to a great holiday on the White Isle including where to dine, dance and down a few cheap drinks...
BREAKFAST
“I’m a conscious eater, so vegan and organic places are on the top of my list to Google when I visit somewhere new. I was a happy girl when I discovered Passion in Ibiza, an awesome business special- ising in cold pressed juices, smoothies and organic healthy food choices. I visit this joint religiously up to two or three times a day when I’m here to ensure I’m eating well away from home. There’s no better place to start your day right, and it’s just as good a place to get that recovery juice in for those hard Ibiza hangovers.”

“I rented a car last time I came out to Ibiza and accidentally stumbled across the restaurant called Aubergine — I’m glad I did! Located beautifully be- tween San Miguel and Santa Gertrudis, Aubergine is a healthy eatery which picks its produce from a local garden. I love the fact that everything is fresh, and the Buddha Salad I ate from there was the best salad I’ve ever eaten. Thoroughly recommended if you’re after a cosy and quiet lunch or dinner date in the north of the island.”

“I’m gonna say Cafe Mambo for this, as the venue is mega special to me. In 2010 and 2011, when I stayed for the entire season with a goal to become a professional DJ, I’d walk past here daily and dream about playing there. Years later my dream came true and I’ve been lucky enough to play at Mambo’s for the last four years. The food is great and there’s something really quite magical about watching the sunset with a cocktail and good music — it’s the perfect setting! On top of the setting, it’s one of the only places on the island where you can watch the biggest DJs for free! Honestly, it’s a great concept to host pre-parties at the venue, only good vibes are ever found here!”

“Whilst there are plenty of luxury bars in Ibiza, I love going back to my roots in the good old West End! Although San An and the West End can be sometimes looked down upon, it’s another place that has my heart. I started out DJing in the West End eight years ago and I’ve had so many great nights in places like Viva (the workers bar) and Soul City. If you’re about the red carpet and bottle service, this is not for you. If you just wanna strip it back and pretend you’re 18 again, go get mashed- up on the cheap and have a laugh with your mates, the West End is the one!”
Formentera
BEACHES
“Venture out and have a day trip to Formentera, I promise it’ll be worth it! I’ve actually only been once, the lovely Mambo Brothers took me and my girls on a boat trip last year and it was incredible! The turquoise shallow seas and white sands will have you confused with being in The Caribbean.There’s a real cool couple who swim around all the boats anchored up with full wetsuits on, sell- ing the most unreal cocktails — if you see them bobbing around, be sure to try one. When I used to spend the whole summer in Ibiza, Cala Gracio beach was a nice walk away from San Antonio where I used to live — it’s always nice to revisit for the odd beach day when I get the time. Be prepared for lots of rocks to climb, with the most beautiful views.”
Amnesia

“Definitely Amnesia, as that’s where I’ve been lucky enough to hold my summer residency for the past four years. To be fair, I’ve been visiting Ibiza for fourteen years now and Amnesia has always been one of my favourite clubs on the Isle, it has so much history! You can party through late until the morning and the Terrace has got to be one of the most amazing rave rooms I’ve ever stepped foot in. Other than Amnesia, I’d recommend Un- derground for a complete contrast to a superclub such as Amnesia. Underground is a small cap joint but I always enjoy the more intimate clubbing experience, and the parties there can get a little wonky!”
