HIGH FIVE

We pick the darling clubs of May...

1. EGG LDN #12 BIRTHDAY WEEKEND, EGG, LONDON
FRIDAY & SATURDAY 1ST & 2ND MAY
GREEN VELVET, DIMITRI FROM PARIS, NICK CURLY, NICOLE MOUDABER, HECTOR COUTO AND CUATERO, NO ARTIFICIAL COLOURS

EGG will celebrate their 12th birthday with a bang this month, with an action-packed, two-day knees-up in the first weekend of May. Since a full-blown renovation last year, the much-loved house and techno den has hosted a slew of sold out parties, including a batch of DJ Mag Sessions with headliners like Kerri Chandler, Omar S and Fur Coat.

In honour of the occasion, EGG is using the full breadth of its booking power to celebrate, drafting in a friends and family line-up more than worthy of the venue's heritage status.

Amnesia residents Hector Couto and Cuatero will kick off on Friday, spinning their popular brand of Balearic-flecked tech house before Madtech-signed duo No Artificial Colours take over Egg's main room. Then there's British treasure Thomas Gandey, who'll join German Brigante behind the decks plus fellow Amnesia staple Mar-T and Andre Butano in the early hours.

Saturday's line-up is just as ballistic, with Green Velvet set to headline with German techno legend Nick Curly alongside. Sweden's Drumcode imprint will also get a look-in thanks to techno queen Nicole Moudaber, before the king of the re-edit, Dimitri From Paris, steps up with a bevy of special guests, topping off the night with a touch of disco.

A birthday party wouldn't be complete without a theme, with Egg LDN planning to adopt an unusual 'Chinese Zodiac' aesthetic for the two-night party. There'll be Chinese-style decorations throughout the venue, as well as a bunch of Asian culinary delights on offer outside, to help keep you charging all night long.

2. SECRETSUNDAZE SUMMER OPENING PARTY, OVAL SPACE & THE LAUNDRY, LONDON
SUNDAY 3RD MARCH
FRED P, JOEY ANDERSON, JANE FITZ, GILES SMITH, STERAC AKA STEVE RACHMAD, PEVERELIST B2B KOWTON, LINKWOOD

No need to stop the party when you're done with Egg LDN! Kick right on to secretsundaze on Sunday morning for more high-quality house and techno, just a short cab ride from Egg's Kings Cross locale. Split into a day and night session, secretsundaze will take over not one but two of the legendary brand's favourite haunts: East London's Oval Space and The Laundry.

Oval Space has long been lauded as the ultimate London venue for alfresco disco, with Fred P, Joey Anderson and DJ Mag favourite Jane Fitz all set to spin in the warehouse-cum-club's spacious booth.

As night falls, the secretsundaze crew will migrate to The Laundry for a full throttle, nocturnal knees-up, soundtracked by the heavy techno stylings of Sterac aka Steve Rachmad. Peverelist and Kowton will also perform, as will Prime Numbers alumni Linkwood, making this the perfect way to wave a boozy bye bye to another bank holiday weekend.

3. BUTTERSIDE UP, WIRE CLUB, LEEDS
FRIDAY 8TH MAY
PROSUMER, HAMISH COLE, HUGH BAILEY, JONNY SLEIGHT, CIARAN HANSEN

A chance to see Prosumer mix should never be missed! The German wax collector and DJ has done an LP with Murat Tepeli plus collaborations with Tama Sumo, releasing on underground imprints like Playhouse, Running Back and Swayzak’s 240 Volts, but it's live that Prosumer really shines. He'll be backed up by the residents from Butterside Up, a brand that has risen to the forefront of Leeds' clubbing landscape in the last five years, thanks to a bunch of expert bookings and a stellar podcast series, with recent offerings from Roman Flügel, Bill Brewster and Axel Boman.
