Throw crass generalisations out the window. Hooga in Chelmsford is the hidden corner of the dance universe for the month of December.
A snug den with lofty ambition, Essex's 300-capacity club has stepped up its booking policy since fixing a permanent Funktion One soundsystem. This month promises to be its biggest yet. After welcoming Claude VonStroke earlier in the year, Saturday 1st December will set another precedent with the arrival of two living legends, Detroit techno originators Juan Atkins and Eddie “Flashin'” Fowlkes as part of a Metroplex takeover. The next Saturday (8th), d&b innovator dBridge is in the house, followed by Hot Creations co-boss Lee Foss (15th December) and Gist Xmas Special with Darius Syrossian (Friday 21st December).
