Ibiza Shootings

Despite rumours, the recent shootings in Ibiza did not occur in Judgement Sundays' queue, DJmag.com's been told.

The recent shootings in Ibiza between two rival drug gangs did not take place in the queue for Judge Jules' Judgement Sundays club night, DJmag.com has been told.

Two clubbers from Northern Ireland were wounded when they were caught in cross-fire between feuding gangs outside a nightclub in San Antonio.

Some rumours on the Internet suggested the incident had taken place outside Eden nightclub in San An, the host venue of Judgement Sundays.

But Miranda Cook from Judgement Sundays clarified the situation, saying: "It actually took place by Kenya bar and the Medi centre, nearer to the egg roundabout," she said.

'Stepped Up Security'

However Cook admitted that as a result of the shootings, Judgement Sundays had now stepped up their security and full door searches were now taking place each night in order to protect clubbers' safety.

The 18 and 19-year-olds from County Down had been on holiday for just two days when they were shot.

One of the teenagers had to undergo surgery in hospital after being shot in the face.

The other, Gareth Richardson, suffered a chest flesh wound but was discharged from hospital a couple of days later.

The incident took place in the early hours of Monday 31st July 2006, and Spanish police are believed to have made a number of arrests.
