La Fleur's secret guide to Ibiza

No one knows Ibiza better than the DJs who play there year in, year out. We spoke to La Fleur about her favourite spots to relax, rave and recover. Find her playing at Hot Since 82’s Labyrinth party at Pacha on 14th of September...

BREAKFAST
“In general, I try to be a healthy clean eater and have been a pescatarian for many years, so good food is important to me. With its special energy, Ibiza makes me want to try and stay healthy and balanced, especially since this can be hard to achieve on the island with all the parties that go on. For this reason, I was very happy to discover Passion Café. If you start your day at Passion, you’re on track. I love their cold press juices, smoothies and shots. Their food is healthy and delicious.”

LUNCH
“Fish Shack isn’t everyone’s favourite lunch- spot for no reason. I try to visit every time I’m on the island. The food is simple and good and accompanied by an amazing view just by the sea. Not much can beat that! I love to walk along Talamanca beach afterwards to digest the food — it’s lovely to hike further up and see a section of the beach away from the tourist areas. If you have a car, I recommend making the trip up north to San Lorenzo and booking a table at La Paloma. It’s Italian-inspired fresh food set within a Mediterranean-style garden, where they grow their own veggies, herbs and flowers used in the cooking, so everything is deliciously fresh. They also have their own bakery on-site. An all-round divine experience!”

DINNER
"43 Tapas Bar is a fantastic place actually owned by Germans and is on the rather vibe-less Avinguda Espanya, but what it may lack in authenticity and atmosphere, it more than makes up for with delicious, fresh tapas. They have this excellent baked spinach dish with walnuts and feta cheese that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Their patatas bravas and bruschetta are also superb. I recommend washing it all down with a jug of white sangria.”

"It always feels like a real treat to go there, while being simple and humble and tapping into the hippie Ibiza spirit"

BARS
“S’Escalinata is popularly known as the ‘stairs bar’ and it’s as simple as it is charming. It features comfy beanbags and little tables set up on steps that lead up to the top of Dalt Vila. Not only do they do top-notch cocktails, but the view you’re treated to looking over all of Ibiza — while being set in the medieval surrounds of the fortress — is unbeatable. They do a great Long Island Ice Tea, which is a great warm-up for a long night ahead, plus nice nibbles to keep you going. It always feels like a real treat to go there, while being simple and humble and tapping into the hippie Ibiza spirit.”

BEACH
“I have a special soft spot for Talamanca beach — it’s a beautiful little beach and of course a convenient option if you’re in Ibiza for a short while without a car, which is mostly the case when I’m there for gigs. I love this spot for a quick revitalising swim after a flight. Elsewhere, Sa Caleta is also a favourite. Despite not being far from all the action, it’s peaceful and quiet. I particularly enjoy the natural mud baths whenever I go there. A free mini detox right on the beach — perfect!”

CLUBS
“The first club I visited in 2005 when I went to the island for the first time was CircoLoco at DC-10. I was studying Spanish in Barcelona for a month and I took the boat over to Ibiza to meet up with some DJ friends from Stockholm who were going to the island for their annual trip. I had only been playing records for a few years and I was immediately blown away because one of my favourites, Danny Tenaglia, was playing the terrace. Dancing to his set while the planes kept flying over the dancefloor is an experience I will never forget. It was my first special clubbing experience outside of Stockholm, and I had a blast. If you go to Ibiza it’s a must-do experience, along with Pacha, which is an iconic spot on the island. I really got to know it well when I begun my residency at Hot Since 82’s Labyrinth party and it’s always something special. People walk into that club and there’s a sense of occasion. Everyone should go there at least once.”
