INTERVIEW: TAPESH

Snappy chat with the German DJ ahead of Pacha London on Friday

Bearing associations with Get Physical, Noir and OFF, Düsseldorf's Tapesh is a man known for playing and producing lively, funk-driven house music. We caught up with him to chat about current projects before he brings his distinctive DJ style to Pacha London on Friday (30th August), where he will be joined by Martin Ikin and Adam Saville...

How's life, Tapesh?

"Life is good, thank you. I´m very busy at the moment, playing a lot around the world. Having fun but at the moment a bit tired because we had a big birthday party for my little daughter. Her first birthday!"

Where have you been and what you been up to?

"I was in Ibiza, playing a small tour for Ants/Ushuaia... My next step is London, Pacha and Solomun´s Club, Ego in Hamburg."

Are you excited about playing at Pacha London?

"Yes, of course, I´m looking forward to it."

Do you enjoy playing in London?

"Yes, crazy party crowd. I love the UK."

What can we expect from your set?

"Surprise, surprise..."

You currently live in Düsseldorf. How has the city's club scene shaped you and your sound?

"I live in Düsseldorf, but I was born in Hamburg and I will move to Berlin soon.

"The club scene in Düsseldorf used to be big, but it´s not the right vibe for me. The only thing we have is a residency from my homie Loco Dice in a club in Düsseldorf. The other clubs are more for the commercial scene."

Which is your favourite city to DJ in?

"I love to play in London, Ibiza, Berlin and my favourite country, Brazil."

Describe your sound in three words.

"FUNKY, COOL, CRAZY!"

What music is currently floating your boat at the moment? Any particular tracks or artists?

"Maceo Plex."

What's on the schedule for September? Any releases or gigs?

"Loads of touring. Also watch out for new collabarations with Amine Edge, DJ Deeon, Kolombo, David Keno, and most excitingly, my album!"
