Joseph Maus, brother and bandmate of John Maus, dies on tour in Latvia

Joseph Maus, brother and bandmate of experimental rock musician John Maus, has died aged 30 while on tour with his brother.

The pair were on tour in Cēsis, Latvia when news broke. No cause of death has yet been announced.

News of Joseph's death was confirmed by their record label Ribbon Music.

In a statement, the label said: “We offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to Joe’s family, Robert Sue, Kevin, Stephanie, and John Maus, as well as his bandmates Luke and Jonathan, his friends, and all those suffering this tragic loss."

All of John Maus's upcoming tour dates have been cancelled.

"We regret to inform you that Joe Maus passed away on Saturday, 28th July in Cesis, Latvia while on tour with his brother John

Those of us at Ribbon Music & Domino Recording Co. who have had the peasure of working with Joe, a constant fixture in his brother's band since its inception, are heartbroken. We offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to Joe's family, Robert, Sue, Kevin, Stephanie and John Maus, as well as his bandmates Luke and Jonathan, his friends, and all those suffering this tragic loss.

Further, on behalf of the Maus family we kindly ask that people respect John, the band, and his family's wishes for privacy at this time."
